The new Katsina Command Controller of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), DC Abdullahi Kirawa when he paid a courtesy call on the State’s Governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari.
The new Katsina Command, Controller, of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi Kirawa has implored the State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari to assist the Customs to educate the citizens, of the negative implications of smuggling on Nigeria’s economy.
Kirawa made the appeal when he paid a courtesy call on the Governor ,saying it was to intimate him with the change of baton in the Command and its activities.
He said it was necessary for the State government to assist the Customs in carrying out advocacy among the citizens on smuggling and its role in crippling the economy.
Kirawa also expressed gratitude to Governor Masari for the support and help being rendered to the Command, which has made its task much easier.
The Governor had earlier said that the State is in full support of the closure of the Nigeria’s borders with its neighbours adding that , it would help not only to stop smuggling of food items, drugs and ammunitions but scale up the nation’s economy.
He however spoke at length on the need for the Custom Command to stop overzealous officers from carrying out sporadic shootings in the City during operations.
This act, he said had in most cases caused panic amongst the citizenry, while it could lead to loss of innocent lives.
The Governor assured that government would continue to support the Command to carry on with the task of stopping smuggling.
