Amina Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary General
Just as it has in the past named some railway facilities in Nigeria after notable personalities in the country, the Federal Government has again named the railway complex located at Idu, in Abuja after the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, who is a full blooded Nigerian.
Some of the beneficiaries who enjoyed such benefits last year from government include , Former President Goodluck Jonathan, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Ladoke Akintola, Mobolaji Thompson, Obafemi Awolowo, Olusola Saraki and Anthony Enahoro.
Mohammed who is the fifth Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations was Minister of Environment before now.
The announcement is contained in a statement in Abuja by the Director of Press of the Ministry of Transportation, Eric Ojiekwe.
It reads: “The Federal Government of Nigeria, has named the Idu railway complex, including Idu railway station and the light train station of the Federal Capital Territory and all the facilities after the Deputy Secretary of the United Nation, Amina Mohammed.
“It has also gained the concurrence of the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Muhammed Bello.”
