Late Ex- Customs CG, Dikko
Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko, the immediate past Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) who served the country in that capacity from 2009 to 2015 is dead.
He reportedly passed on at a Private Hospital in Abuja yesterday after a protracted illness.
Since his retirement from the Customs , he has had a running battle with the law enforcement agencies , namely the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on matters related to sleaze while he was in office.
This led to the seizure of his house said to be worth over N1.1 billion as well as cars worth hundreds of millions of naira by the EFCC.
He also had to pay $8million to the government coffers in a kind of plead bargaining, arrangement, a development , which led to a Federal High Court forestalling his further arrest and prosecution by the EFCC and the ICPC.
Dikko’s stint as the CG of Customs was characterized by outstanding reforms and modernization of the operations of the Service.
