Late Mayor Philip Fadeyi
Mayor Philip Oluwole Fadeyi, a devout Catholic , philanthropist and socialite who died on Friday ,February 19, 2021 at the age of 77, will be buried on March 26, 2021, after a Thanksgiving Service at St Mulumba Catholic Church , Alakia , Ibadan , Oyo State by 10. am.
According to the funeral arrangements released by his family, on March 25, 2021 his remains would be removed from the Anatomy Unit at the University of Ibadan, for lying in State at his residence,16, S.O Olagunju Street, Alakia , Isebo, following which a Service of Songs would be held for him from 5.00 pm .
Then on March 26, after the Burial Service , his remains would be interred at St Cyprian Catholic Church Cemetery , behind Loyola Church in Ibadan.
Pa Fadeyi started his working career as a teacher , following which he joined Bata Nigeria Ltd, then Lennards Shoes and thereafter , Fan Milk Nig Ltd where he bagged various meritorious Awards for commitment to work , before he retired as an Accounting Manager.
A philanthropist of note, he was greatly instrumental to the building, growth and development of his parish, St Michael Catholic Church, Alakia , Ibadan. He also brought his leadership quality to bare in the church as he was the founder and Chairman of St Michael Society for over 12 years as well as the founder and Chairman of the Mayor Club for many years.
A great sports enthusiast, he was a great fan of the Liverpool Football Club of England , while he played for his Secondary School Team , Kiriji Memorial College , where he won laurels for the School through his No 7 position , and was nicknamed ‘Brownlow’, due to his mesmerizing display on the field. .
He is survived by wife , children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
