The Coronavirus Pandemic has in the meantime, suspended the physical activities of the National Seafarers Welfare Board(NSWB) , a non profit organisation established to provide shore-based welfare services and facilities to local and international seafarers in seaports, terminal and jetties.
Consequently , the NSWB has called for online voluntary free support so that it can continue to provide succour for the distressed Seafarers of all Nationalities in the areas of social , moral and spiritual well being.
The Board , which Chairman in Nigeria is Otunba Kunle Folarin said in a statement that the support should be provided strictly in line with the National, State and Government Maritime Agencies directives on COVID – 19 Pandemic.
The National seafarers welfare normally reaches out to seafarers in distress and needy, especially those that are victims of piracy at sea,in prison for one reason or the other and those are abandoned by their employers.
