The Coronavirus Pandemic has in the meantime, suspended the  physical activities of the  National Seafarers Welfare  Board(NSWB) , a non profit organisation established to   provide  shore-based  welfare  services  and  facilities  to  local  and  international seafarers in seaports, terminal and jetties.

Consequently , the NSWB  has called for  online  voluntary  free  support so  that it can continue to provide succour  for the  distressed   Seafarers  of  all  Nationalities in the areas of social , moral and spiritual well being.

The Board , which Chairman in Nigeria is Otunba Kunle Folarin said in a statement that the support should be provided strictly  in line with the  National, State and Government Maritime Agencies directives on COVID – 19 Pandemic.

The National seafarers welfare normally  reaches out to seafarers in distress and needy, especially those that are victims of piracy at sea,in prison for one reason or the other and those are abandoned by their employers.

For   24/7 emergency assistance, to Seafarers and advise to Maritime Organisations on Welfare of Seafarers, it has thus asked to be contacted through  Seafarers Wellbeing Onboard ships and at Seaports/Terminal (08060616034) and    Social worker – Psychosocial therapy and mental health (08084255182).

Others include for  Psychological challenge (08062354971) ; Apapa Port Seafarers Welfare Committee (08062354971) ,  Tin-Can Island Port Seafarers Welfare Committee (08098657885) ,  Warri Port Seafarers Welfare Committee (08038400990) and   Rivers Ports Seafarers Welfare Committee (08033195192).
