The Nigerian Railway Corporation(NRC) has said it would resume train services on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 on the Warri- Itakpe rail line on which it suspended operations on April 10th 2025, due to technical and operational challenges – chief among them multiple engine failures.
In a Statement, the NRC management stated that after a critical review of the operational and technical situations, it was pleased to announce the recommencement of the services, starting from Wednesday.
It however informed the passengers that Service has now been rescheduled to run for 6 days a week – Friday to Wednesday starting from Thursday 1st of May 2025, adding that the Service will be rested every Thursday for track and rolling stock maintenance on the route.
The management of the NRC, led by Dr. Kayode Opeifa, MD/CEO, apologized to passengers, stakeholders, other interest groups, and Nigerians in general whose livelihood is daily impacted by the services adding that it regretted the inconveniences that the suspension may have caused and assured them of the best of services going forward
It had informed the public of the efforts of its engineers to rectify the situation and the necessity to further suspend the services to enable management to improve on the operational capacity, redundancy, and customer service delivery.
The MD had also appreciated Nigerians, its passengers, and stakeholders for their understanding, patience, and cooperation during the trying period, adding that it valued their continued patronage and commitment to NRC.
It would be recalled that most passengers were refunded in full as offered by NRC, while passengers who opted not to be refunded were told to further revalidate their existing tickets for services on any day of their choice, using its e-ticketing platforms adding that those with issues may contact its ticket line on 09031800517.
