SWAN Backs Royal Father, Kanwan Katsina on Peace Ambassador Award from Customs

The plaque of Peace Ambassador of the year 2022 presented to Comptroller of Customs rtd Usman Kankara Bello mni Kanwan Katsina District Head Ketare by the Customs Area Controller Katsina Command for his contribution in advocating for peace among officers of the Command and border communities in katsina State.

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Katsina State Chapter has congratulated, Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara for the Peace Ambassador award  conferred on him by the Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.

The Awardee is the Grand Patron of the association.

The Association Chairman, Nasir Sani Gide in a statement, described the award as commendable considering his contributions to the prevailing harmonious relationship between the Command and the public.

The statement also commended the Customs Command for giving  honour to whom honour is due, having recognized the Awardee’s roles and contributions which gave rise to the cordiality

It would  be recalled that the Kanwan Katsina who retired from Customs after 35 years of service used his experience in guiding the Command on how to relate with border communities in the State.

In so doing, he encouraged the Command to reactivate the Customs Consultative Forum where all stakeholders would meet and get enlightened on Customs’ procedures and operations.

The interventions, guidance and advice at all times by the Kanwan Katsina, have brought about the prevailing peaceful coexistence between personnel of the Customs and Communities along borders, from the hitherto frequent clashes.

It would also  be recalled that the  International Association of Peace Advocates  also recently  conferred on Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara a Chartered Fellowship Award and the title of “Eminent Peace Ambassador”’  apart from the Peace Ambassador of Year 2022 from the Customs.

The two Awards were disclosed in a statement signed by the Media officer to the Royal Father, Jamilu Hashimu Gora and made available to newsmen in Katsina.

The International Association of Peace Advocates is a civil society arm of the United Nations with the mandate to promote peace and appoints people as peace makers across the 193 member state of the United Nations.

According to the statement, the Award and the title which was signed by the World Peace Ambassador Per Stafsen was presented to the representative of the Kanwan Katsina Alhaji Habib Ya’u at a private ceremony held in Abuja.

The statement explained that Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara is qualified and entitled to all rights and privileges binding the organization and is also expected to function as a peace maker in any part of the world with regards to the declaration on the right of people to peace.

According to the organization, the award and title was conferred on the Kanwan Katsina in recognition of his selfless Humanitarian service in Ketare District, Kankara Local Government, Katsina State, Nigeria as a whole and the world by extension.

The Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara while commenting on receiving the Award said it will serve as a motivator and a morale booster and also encourage him to do more in the service to humanity in all ramifications and also motivate others to join in his footsteps.

The  award of Peace Ambassador of the Year 2022 to the Royal Father.was presented to the Kanwan Katsina who is also a retired Customs Comptroller by the former  Katsina State Command Comptroller, Wada Chedi at the end of the year activities dinner in recognition of his outstanding and continuous contribution to the peace and harmony between the Command and host communities in Katsina State.
