• As Stakeholders Launch GTP Magazine Maiden Edition

The revitalization of Nigeria’s transport infrastructure requires bold vision, decisive action and unwavering commitment.

The Chairman/ Chief Consultant and Publisher,Global Transport Policy(GTP) , Dr Oluwasegun Musa made this disclosure, at the public launch of the Global Transport Policy – a Bilingual Magazine and the holding of an Annual Round table ,which held at the Marriot Hotel , Ikeja, Lagos.

He said that by prioritizing strategic policy intervention, Nigeria can lay the foundation for sustainable economic growth, job creation and improved quality of life for all Nigerians.

Musa said that together, all Nigerians can unlock the full potentials of the Nigeria’s economy and propel the nation towards a brighter future.

The magazine’s Publisher stated that the Roundtable will chart a strategic roadmap for the transport industry and thus foster the long needed economic growth adding that the thematic thrust of the Roundtable , which is ‘Transport infrastructure and Strategic Policy Intervention : Building Blocks for Ecoomic growth’ aptly captures the Magazine’s outcry.

According to him , it is important to recognize that the development of robust transportation networks is not merely about connecting cities and regions, it is about laying the foundation for sustained economic growth, societal advancement and global competitiveness.

He stated that though transport infrastructure serves as the livelihood of economies, facilitating the movements of goods, peoples and ideas, it is the backbone upon which industries thrive,but pointed out that the mere existence of transportation networks is insufficient.

The Publisher stated that what really catalyzes economic growth is the strategic intervention of policies designed to optimize these networks ensuring efficiency, sustainability and inclusivity,

According to him, it is evident that Nigeria’s government’s commitment to infrastructure development is clearly outlined in the National Integrated Infrastructural Master Plan (NIIMP) presenting opportunities for public – private partnerships and foreign investments.

Musa stated that the Magazine is also aware of the initiatives such as the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF) aimed at accelerating the execution of critical infrastructure projects including the transport industry.
Musa said as a seasoned pathfinder with a vibrant faculty of sound technocrats and industry thoroughbreds , GTP is committed to the best in the transformation of the Nigerian transport industry.

According to him , it is an assemblage of committed transport crusaders with a robust global and local insight that will ensure a holistic approach to execution , to enable global competitiveness.

The maiden edition of the Magazine , which focuses on rail was unveiled and launched at the event . Musa said the edition was intentionally heavy on rail with insights across the world to support the Federal Government’s efforts on rail development.He promised that the next edition will be spotlighting the aviation and the other transport sectors.

The Roundtable , which had as participants , transport practitioners, academics and Transport experts proferred solutions to the chaotic transport situation in the country and suggested ways in which the National Transport Policy (NTP), which has been unrealisdable in Nigeria can become a reality.

As part of measures to encourage participants to attend such as event, a draw was held , in which a freight forwarder , who is a member of the National Association of Government Approved Freight forwarders emerged as the winner of a Refrigerator , which was the Prize Gift.
