Comrade(Dr) Adewale Adeyanju, President General, MWUN.

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria(MWUN} has pledged to  wade into the challenges being faced by  the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria(CRFFN), which have made it impossible for it to realize its mandate, as well as pay its workers salaries, with a view to finding solutions to them.

The President General of the MWUN, Comrade (Dr) Adewale Adeyanju , who made the promise, when he paid a courtesy  visit to the CRFFN  at its headquarters in Marina, Lagos,  said he would engage with the  government and all the necessary revenue generating agencies ,and stakeholders in the Maritime sector over the matter.

He said this would be  to effectively nip in the bud, the bottleneck militating against the CRFFN  core obligations, towards all the agencies under its regulation in the country, and to also enable it  manage the day to day administration of the body.

Dr  Adeyanju lamented the fact that CRFFN was yet to pay its  workers salaries for over six months running; noting that CRFFN name  has been removed from the usual annual budgetry allocations by the federal government, a development he said had practically paralysed all  the functions of the Regulating body.

During the visit ,  the acting Registrar and CEO of the Council, Mrs  Uromta Chinyere   had intimated the MWUN President General, and his delegate  on the constitution of a “Technical Committee On Identification Of Challenges Militating Against Its Speedy And Efficient Service Delivery On Mandate Of The Council”, with a view  to finding  solutions to the challenges.

She had also said that  the Regulating body had to identify with the Union, by virtue of its  affiliate of membership in the Shipping, Clearing & Forwarding Agencies Workers Branch of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, given to the newly created Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy by the President of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCON.

As part of Comrade Adeyanju’s response to all the  challenges of the CRFFN, Dr. Adeyanju  had appreciated  the Registrar, for her resilience and commitment to duty in carrying out her obligations, in the face of  difficulty and the biting problems , she has been facing.
