Dangote Refinery has contradicted the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s    (NNPCL’s) claim of  buying  fuel from it  at N898 per litre.

A statement made available to the Marine and Economy Online on Sunday , September 15, 2024,and signed by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Company, refuted the NNPCL’s claims.

Chiejina described the NNPCL’s claim as misleading and mischievous and urged Nigerians to wait for a formal announcement on the pricing, by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, appointed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, which will commence on October 1, 2024.

Dangote said in the Statement that his attention has  been drawn to a statement attributed to NNPCL spokesperson, Mr Olufemi Soneye, that it  sold  its  PMS at N898 per litre to the NNPCL, adding that the Statement was aimed  at undermining the milestone achievement recorded on  September 15, 2024, towards addressing energy insufficiency and insecurity, which has bedeviled the economy in the past 50 years.

It  urged Nigerians to disregard the malicious statement and await a formal announcement on the pricing, by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, appointed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, which will commence on October 1, 2024, bearing in mind that its  current stock of crude was procured in dollars.

Dangote said it sold the products to NNPCL in dollars with a lot of savings against what they are currently importing, saying  that with  the  action, there will be petrol in every local government area of the country regardless of their remote nature.

It assured Nigerians of availability of quality petroleum products and putting an end to the endemic fuel scarcity in the country.

It will be recalled  that Soneye had said that NNPCL  successfully loaded PMS at the Dangote Refinery today.

He said the claim   that NNPCL  purchased the product  at N760 per liter is incorrect, adding that for  the  initial loading, the price from the refinery was N898 per liter.
