The Area Controller of the Tin Can Island Command of the Nigerian Customs Service, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, has advised importers and customs agents , using the Command, on the need for them to be compliant in their declarations on imports.
He gave the charge while delivering a Talk , with the theme , ‘The Year of Stakeholders’ at the Headquarters of the Command in Tin Can, Lagos, on September 30,2024, stating that the well-being of all who do business in the Area Command is a priority to him, the Command and the Service.
Nnadi noted the challenges stakeholders normally have in clearing their goods during the ember months, saying that compliant traders who make genuine declarations will not have issues of delay.
He said only those dubious importers who would want to circumvent the system would have themselves to blame, adding that the habit of wanting to cut corners will not be tolerated at the Command this time or at any other time.
The Tin Can Command CAC stated the fact that the year is now at its last quarter, showed his appreciation for all the efforts that have been made to ensure that the revenue for the year is achieved and called for compliance and for all hands to be on deck to make this a reality.
He disclosed that he has ensured that all newly created bonded terminals domiciled in Tin Can Island Port has space for stakeholders to store their containers, while they go about their businesses, but pointed out that no such space has been created at the Command’s headquarters .
Nnadi promised that he would look into the issue but pointed out that renovations are presently ongoing in the Command’s premises.
He advised the stakeholders to learn to keep the environment clean, pending when new bins will be distributed at designated areas, for the fact that a clean environment portrays a healthy lifestyle.
The CAC gave room for questions, which he provided answers to , assuring that all other issues raised would receive attention.
